Simple Steps Can Protect Everyone During Flu Season

The new H1N1 flu is still circulating in our community, and will soon be joined by the regular cold and flu season.  To help keep all of our CUSD students and families healthy, please keep the following healthy habits in mind:

· Just like we do at school, encourage your child to frequently wash his or her hands, cover coughs and sneezes, and avoid sharing food or drinks with others.

· Don’t send your child to school if he or she is running a fever of 100 degrees or higher, and has one or more of the following symptoms: a cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, vomiting or diarrhea, or extreme fatigue.

· Before sending your child back to school after an illness, make sure he or she is fever-free (without the use of a fever reducer, like Tylenol) for 24 hours.

· Students who arrive at school with flu symptoms will be sent home to recover, and to avoid spreading the flu among classmates.

Clovis Unified will continue to conduct daily sanitation of bathrooms and high contact areas such as door knobs and countertops, but the best protection against colds and flu are the simple steps listed above.  If you have any questions about H1N1 or the regular cold and flu season, please contact the CUSD Nursing Services Office at 327-9466. More information is also available on the CUSD web site at www.cusd.com.

This requirement is in force at all times except for drop-off and pick-up times and on game day afternoons. If you are walking on our campus at any other time and you do not have a visitor’s badge displayed, please don’t be offended if you are stopped by a staff member. This is for the safety of your child and all other Dry Creek students. We thank you for your continued support.
